Sam Handy was born in Vermont and raised right here in South Burlington. Growing up in the popular Butler Farms neighborhood, Sam excelled in athletics. Baseball took him to the University of Southern Maine, where he graduated with a BA in Communications.
Upon graduating, Sam returned to Vermont and explored his career options in the state where he knew he wanted to set down roots and raise a family. After dedicating some time in his family’s restaurants, Sam decided he wanted to venture out on his own. Now, a local business owner himself, with restaurants in Williston and Burlington, Sam feels it is time to focus on the issues affecting Vermont residents and businesses.
Sam, a former South Burlington athlete, has spent the last two winters coaching JV Boys Basketball at the high school. He also serves as Vice Chair on the Advisory Committee on Accessibility in Burlington and collaborates with several local charities.
Sam lives in South Burlington with his wife Cassie, a special educator in the Burlington School District, their daughter Rowan, and their two dogs, Sunny and Luna.
